Anxiety

We all experience anxiety and depression – they can be normal reactions to the stresses of life. However, anxiety or depression can grow to the point where they interfere with one’s ability to be productive or experience pleasure and enjoyment. People with anxiety may stop going to work or school. They may experience panic attacks, or their coping strategies may develop into harmful obsessive-compulsive thoughts, behaviors or phobias. People with depression may even develop suicidal thoughts.

Other ways in which anxiety and depression can manifest include:

  • withdrawal
  • sense of foreboding
  • feeling ill-at-ease
  • problems sleeping
  • loss of appetite or overeating
  • sexual problems
  • loss of motivation
  • anger
  • difficulties getting along with others
  • pessimism
  • loss of interest in previously pleasurable activities
  • excessive use of drugs or alcohol

If you think that anxiety or depression is preventing you or someone you care about from functioning effectively in the world, I can help you develop a plan for getting relief and gaining control.
