CRISIS INTERVENTION FOR FAMILIES

  • Initial crisis consultation: The goal of this consultation is to assess the situation and develop an action plan.
  • On-going consultation: Many families and individuals find that periodic or weekly consultations are helpful for managing a mental health problem. Call 415-440-5505 to set up an appointment.
  • The “mobile crisis” intervention approach: When it is time to act, many families find it beneficial to have me present. In this way, I am able to oversee and coordinate the plan, support those organizing the intervention, and coordinate with other professionals. I can be available for as long as I am needed. I travel throughout the USA as well as abroad.
  • Involuntary hospitalization: I coordinate with you, health care providers, and local authorities (such as police and hospitals) if involuntary hospitalization is necessary.
I take a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to crisis intervention.

I will help you develop a systematic and effective plan of action. I bring my extensive training and experience to bear on your unique problem. Together we will formulate a strategy for gaining control of the psychological crisis facing you.

Whether over the telephone or in-person (at your location or at my office in San Francisco), my goal is to help families, organizations and individuals quickly understand what is going on and what to do about it. I travel within the United States as well as abroad when requested.

I have over 20 years of experience working with patients who are acutely suicidal and/or psychotic and have conducted extensive research in this area. I am an expert in helping the friends and families of people in crisis access appropriate treatment options and learn how to prevent a future crisis.
